I just read about your Hip Hop Empowerment program for the North Korean refugees. Here in Ontario, Canada an old School bboy from the early 80's known as Buddha from the Canadian Floor Masters is doing similar things as what I have read on your program site. I have attended his workshop/meeting when he came to Toronto to discuss what, how, and why they are doing what they are doing.
Let me tell you. Bboying for me is a life path. It was a path I choose to take when I was 13 because I fell in love with it. It became a passion for me. Everyone in life walks a path that develops them into the person they currently are, and bboying was my path.
It wasn't until recently that I discovered what I wanted to do with my life, which is Social Work through Hip Hop. I feel that all of the knowledge I have gained, from experiencing it myself, and also talking to very knowledgeable people within my bboy community, Toronto, I feel that I have to share everything I have learned with people of the younger generation because they are the future. They will be the ones carrying the culture, and passing down the knowledge to the generation of hip hop heads after them.
In the area I live in I have already made the initiative to set up a Hip Hop Program for youth at risk. I'm going to be working with youth in government housing areas and breaking down new barriers with them. After reading what you posted on the forum, I feel obligated to help out with your cause. I want to work directly with your team when you will be running the program. I want to make it out to South Korea. I honestly feel that I would be a benefit to your team because of the passion I have for the culture. If we can get into contact with as soon as possible and talk about this it would be great. If you need references from someone well known within the scene just ask me.
